I’m going to change gears a lit on this week’s blog. Instead of writing about my writing process or how I used ideas and friends from my personal life to write On and On, I’m going to tell you a little about my favorite subject, me!

After writing that last sentence with a joking smile on my face, I suddenly realized that the rest of this blog will be super easy or extremely difficult. I have absolutely no idea where this might go.

I’m thinking about all the things I enjoy, all the things that make me-me. Vacations, traveling, humor, sports, the outdoors, fishing, solving problems, building shit, working with my hands, procrastinating, my job, feeding every and anyone who walks into my house, admiring a finished job that is well done, watching TV after my wife goes to bed, having a few too many beers at my weekly poker game, golfing, or just generally fucking off. In all honesty, I’m pretty good at generally fucking off.

Family overrides everything aspect of my life. I’m not saying family isn’t fun, it absolutely is fun. More importantly, family is essential. I am blessed to have an extended family who I adore; I love my mother-in-law.  I have been mostly happily married for 31 years. I have four adult children, three of which live within a five-minute drive. The fourth child lives out of state, but we text or talk daily, usually both.

Less than a year ago, our blessings blossomed when our first grandchild arrived and then five months later twins quickly followed. Nothing and I mean nothing has ever filled my heart with the happiness a simple smile from any and all of them brings me.

So now, when asked who I am, I’m a proud grandfather who loves his family and is really good at fucking off.
